Circle serves tastes a la carte

Symphony of Northwest Arkansas patrons gathered for the fifth annual Spring Gala March 5 at Mermaids Seafood Restaurant in Fayetteville. The group honored Cindy and Dewitt Smith "for their extraordinary contributions to SoNA and the arts in Northwest Arkansas."

Proceeds from the evening will help support the nonprofit organization's artistic and educational initiatives.

Next up for the symphony will be Masterworks IV: The Rite of Spring on May 4 performing Sivestre Revueltas' Sensemayá, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme featuring cellist Edgar Moreau and Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring.

Those joining the symphony to salute the Smiths included Ellen and Malcolm Hayward, Grace and Jack Cleghorn, Carol and Ed Clifford, Debbie Evans, Cynthia Coughlin, Terrye and Patric Brosh, Mary Storey, Rachel Ludeman and Jorge Garcia, Ashley and Jacob McElroy and Marybeth Hays.

Arkansas Children's Northwest Arkansas Circle of Friends welcomed guests for the inaugural "a la carte" benefit March 7 at The Apollo in Springdale. The evening featured a la carte tastes from area restaurants and caterers.

Arkansas Children's ambassador family Regan Sheets and her son Matthew shared with guests their experiences with the hospital.

Circle of Friends consists of 12 chapters and hundreds of members statewide with a mission to support Arkansas Children's Hospital. These members donate their time, talent and energy to make children's lives better today and healthier tomorrow.

Over the past 35 years, Circle of Friends volunteers have raised more than $15 million for children and families served by Arkansas Children's.

Featured restaurants included Bordinos Restaurant and Wine Bar, Farrell's Lounge, Bar and Grill; House of Webster; Neighbors Mill Bakery & Cafe; Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers; Spring Street Grill and Catering; and Wood Stone Pizza + Bar.

Next up for the giving group will be the Bunny Breakfast on April 13.

Hosts for the fundraiser included Kelley and Steve Cullen, Alicia and Ryan Funa, Great Southern Bank, Essa Hicks and Christy and Brad Norwood.
