Reanetta Hunt has been named CEO and chief development officer of the Baptist Health Foundation, the health system announced in a news release Thursday.

The charitable organization funds initiatives such as scholarships and the Baby Project, which pays for neonatal intensive care unit equipment and hotel rooms for families of ailing newborns who don't live near Little Rock.

The group "further[s] the critical mission of leading and inspiring philanthropic efforts and civic involvement aimed at improving the health care and quality of life for the people of Arkansas," Hunt said in a statement.

"It is a tremendous opportunity and honor to be selected to head the development operations at Baptist Health and to work with its board and talented staff," she said.

A native of Arkansas, Hunt has a journalism and public relations background. She previously worked as a news reporter, television general manager, corporate communications vice president and nonprofit executive director.

Most recently, she was CEO of the Chicago State Foundation at Chicago State University, where she also served as interim vice president for advancement.

Hunt also has served on boards and commissions located in Illinois and Tennessee, including the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association; Urban Gateways Center for Arts Education; DuSable Museum of African American History; Memphis Film, Tape & Music Commission; Tennessee Gaming Commission and the State of Illinois Brown v. Board of Education 50th Anniversary Commission.

The Baptist Health system employs about 11,000 employees across 11 hospitals and numerous clinics in Arkansas.

Its foundation was previously led by Missy Lewis, who departed in December.
