The 21st annual Wine & Food "Feastival" at Wildwood Park for the Arts came only nine months after the 20th incarnation, which took place in June. But the host of attendees eating, drinking and making merry had no complaints about switching from pre-summer-solstice to help ring in the spring equinox.
A red-carpet area was set up outside the building to welcome guests at the March 16 event. In the north and south lobbies and studios area awaited an array of silent auction items; a cork pull, at $20 a pop, for a chance at $100 worth of wine and spirits; and multiple food and wine tables.
Attendees had the option of sipping Antica Chardonnay from Napa, Calif.; Taittinger Brut Champagne from France; Dona Paula Smoked Red Blend from Mendoza, Argentina; Bartenura Moscato from Provincia di Pavia, Italy; Elouan Pinot Noir from Oregon; and Francis Ford Coppola Diamond, also from Napa. All that along with good old Diamond Bear beers from Little Rock.
A number of spirits, from destinations near (including Louisiana, Tennessee and Kentucky) and far (such as Spain, the Netherlands and Scotland) were also on hand. Oh, and there was the ubiquitous margarita machine. Food morsels were provided by Arthur's Prime Steakhouse/Oceans at Arthur's, Blue Cake Co., Bonefish Grill, Capital Hotel, Moe's, Bravo, Faded Rose, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Red Lobster, Petit & Keet, Table 28, Taziki's, The Vintage Kitchen and YaYa's Euro Bistro.
Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits and Rusty Tractor Vineyards -- a vineyard, commercial winery and event spot about to open in Little Rock -- were among the entities that helped make it all happen. The Greasy Greens returned to provide musical entertainment for guests as they strolled, enjoyed the treats and socialized.
Proceeds were earmarked for support of the park's gardens, its Art in the Park exhibitions and the Wildwood Academy of Music & the Arts, along with educational programs for youths.
