Washington County

St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, 224 N. East Ave., will host "Teaching on Meditation" with Buddhist teacher Anam Thubten, at 7 p.m. April 11.

Thubten will guide participants in developing three aspects of meditation: mindful attention, open awareness and loving kindness. He will also share Buddhist wisdom on working with thoughts and emotions. He is a Tibetan Buddhist teacher and author of several books, including Embracing Each Moment. He has been coming to Arkansas since 1998.

Benton County

All Saints Episcopal Church in Bentonville, 2904 NW Third St., will have a Lenten Soup & Study at 6 p.m. Wednesdays through April 17. The book Walk in Love: Episcopal Beliefs and Practices will be studied. All are welcome. There will also be a guided meditation or contemplative prayer on Thursdays from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., hosts Lenten soup suppers and meditations at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays through April 10 in McKay Hall. Meditations begin at 6:20 p.m. Suggested donation is $3/person or $5/family. Call the church office to sign up.

The Bella Vista Christian Women's Connection will meet at 9 a.m. April 9 at the church. The public is invited. The featured speaker is Avanell Savage, the owner of Avie's Place Creations. The guest speaker is Gaylene Buchhorn on "Beautiful Pieces."

This brunch is held the second Tuesday of each month, and an all-American breakfast is served for $10. The program is sponsored by Stonecroft Ministries. Call 876-5422 for reservations.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., hosts a Lenten church service every Wednesday at 6 p.m. There will be a light supper starting at 5:15 p.m. All are welcome.

"Different Strokes for Different Folks," a support group for caregivers and stroke/brain injury survivors, will meet at 2 p.m. March 26 in the church library.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open every Friday from 10 a.m. until noon. Organizers are now collecting items for an Easter meal, including boxed chicken stuffing, canned green beans, cream of mushroom soup, boxed potatoes, canned fruit cocktail, yellow or white cake mix and orange or cherry Jell-O, regular or sugar-free. A container for donations is in the church narthex.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, hosts a new grief support group, facilitated by the Rev. Brenda Wideman, at 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday until April 30 in the Chapel. All are welcome.

Midweek Manna continues on Wednesdays with dinner served at 5:30 p.m. and classes at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to dinner, even if you are not taking a class. Cost is $5 per person, $3 for children under 10, with a family maximum of $15. There are classes for all ages and interests.

The church hosts Lenten worship services at 11:45 a.m. Tuesdays through April 16. A light lunch will follow each week.

Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rogers, 2305 S. Dixieland Road, hosts Lenten worship services at 7 p.m. Wednesdays throughout the season, with a soup and sandwich supper at 6:15 p.m.

The Second Saturday Women's Bible Study and Brunch starts at 10 a.m. April 13 at the church. Bring your Bible and a friend!

Millwood Christian Church in Rogers, 3450 W. Pleasant Grove Road, will hold a bingo night March 26. Early bird gaming will begin at 6:30 p.m. with main pack gaming at 7 p.m. Concessions are available on site.

Proceeds from bingo go to fund the Essentials Outreach program, which distributes personal care and hygiene items to those in need.

Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers, 805 Olrich St., invites all to join in Lenten worship Wednesdays through April 10. This musically driven service follows the Holden Evening Prayer by Marty Haugen. Free soup supper is provided at 6 p.m., followed by worship at 6:45 p.m.

At 9 a.m. March 26, the Ladies Bible Study led by Joanne Morris on the Old Testament prophet Micah will continue. Women from the community are always welcome to attend.

On March 27, the Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon.
