ROGERS -- Members of the Benton County Sheriff's Office dive team helped pull a car from the retention pond at the Walmart Supercenter at Pleasant Grove Road.

Several people lined the fence Monday afternoon and watched as the team worked to retrieve the blue Toyota Highlander.

Dale Denver, team leader, said the towing company had trouble getting it out of the pond, so the dive team was called to assist Rogers police.

Rogers police identified the driver as Brendan Curington. Curington was leaving the store when he drove through the wrought iron fence and landed in the pond after he blacked out, according to a news release from police.

Rogers Fire Chief Tom Jenkins said he was standing on the shore when firefighters arrived.

Curington has no known medical conditions nor history of blackouts, police said.
