AN ANGELIC EVENING

Service with a smile: 31 young volunteers, helpers recognized at Hope Ball

Hope Ball 2019, benefiting the 20th Century Club's Hope Lodge, kicked off March 9 at the Wally Allen Ballroom at the Statehouse Convention Center.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 31 Angels of Hope -- high school juniors who performed 25 or more hours of volunteer work at the lodge, CARTI or other related events. The Service Above Self award was presented to seven young women who volunteered for 100 or more hours. They are Emily Eusanio, Avery Fiser, Millison Guenther, Heather Harpole, Anna Grace Middleton, Claire Perkins and Abby Teague.

The Hope Award went to Dale Aldridge, a designer and managing partner at Silk A Bloom. He and his team of designers have provided their services to many charitable events including the Hope Ball.

The Distinguished Service Award was given to Martha Ellen Talbot. She has been a member of the 20th Century Club since 2012. As owner of Marlsgate Plantation, she has donated the facility to the Hope Ball for live auction items and other events.

Teresa Clow and Angela Moody were co-chairmen of the event. Lisa Fischer and Chris Kane served as masters of ceremonies.

The live auction included an Alwand Vahan bracelet donated by Jones & Son Fine Jewelry featuring a blue topaz, pink garnet, amethyst and diamonds, $5,750; a choice of a private dinner party for 16 and tour of Marlsgate Plantation or a wedding or celebration for 60 guests, $4,250; a choice of vacations to eight luxury destinations, $10,000; and a vacation at a Massachusetts beach house with Red Sox tickets, $5,500.
