Rogers School District announces administrative moves

ROGERS -- The School District this week announced plans for three administrative transfers and one new hire effective this summer.

Sharla Osbourn, principal of Darr Elementary School since it opened in 2013, will become an assistant superintendent for general administration. Osbourn mainly will assist elementary schools with their support services and facility needs.

Charles Lee, an assistant superintendent who currently supports such needs across the district, will focus on the secondary schools, according to a district news release.

Osbourn was principal of Lowell Elementary School for five years before shifting to Darr. She previously worked as an administrator and teacher in the Springdale district.

In other moves, according to the release:

• Darla Tomasko, assistant principal at Heritage High School since 2010, will be executive director for curriculum and instruction overseeing the district's alternative learning programs and the new virtual school. Tomasko began working for the district in 2001 as a middle-school counselor.

• Jeremy Yates will be Kirksey Middle School's next principal. Yates has been assistant principal at Bentonville's West High School since 2016; he previously was assistant principal at Bentonville High School for a semester. Mel Ahart, Kirksey's current principal, will be reassigned to another position in the district, although that move hasn't been finalized.

• Christina Meister, assistant principal at Northside Elementary School for the past three years, will become principal of Grace Hill Elementary School.
