My Favorite Space is: My studio
Why? In 2010, Martha and I decided to build our home on four acres. She stipulated I move my oil painting out of the house ... so I made a little sketch of a barn-like structure on a napkin. She said yes and we turned the napkin over to our builder.
The studio was built first, followed by our home. I now have a studio and gallery of about 1,500 square feet that offers an incredible view of Rattlesnake Ridge. The studio gallery is my favorite space because it's where Little Buddy (Bichon) and I go every morning for coffee and to read the newspaper. Then, I paint for a couple of hours before I tackle my "to do" list.
If I could make one change this space, I would: The studio/gallery has everything I really need at present — computer, TV, guitars, tables for watercolor and a big easel for oil painting. It even has a loft for my grandsons when they visit. And the gallery allows me to have one or two annual art sales. And there is a shed off the back for the bass boat. I've never met an artist who said they have enough space and I've considered adding a storage room for frames and canvases. But that would just take time away from what I really love to do. Paint.
