Totally '80s

Partygoers celebrate Downtown Little Rock Partnership’s 35th anniversary

The Downtown Little Rock Partnership picked the perfect place to hold a totally gnarly '80s party -- a mall.

The Main Street Mall was the scene of the July 13 party. Guests were seen sporting Def Leppard T-shirts (too many to count), leg warmers, scrunchies, fingerless gloves and ripped-up shirts. The invitation encouraged partygoers to "Party Like It's 1984," the year the downtown partnership was formed.

Madonna-wannabes posed next to a silver DeLorean that was parked inside the building -- a nod to the 1985 movie Back to the Future. A Michael J. Fox impersonator showed up dressed in Marty McFly attire. Also seen was a Tom Cruise impersonator decked out in a Top Gun flight suit.

Guests could play video games in a retro arcade. A deejay spun records from a second floor landing while partygoers danced in front of a giant screen showing music videos.

The event was a celebration of the 35th year of the partnership.
