The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a Heat Advisory from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, according to a report from the service.

A dangerous combination of heat and humidity is expected for the next several days, the first extended heat wave of the season, the service said. Several days in a row of dangerous heat are expected and excessive heat warnings and advisories will remain in effect for much of the region.

High temperatures in the low to mid 90's with maximum heat index values 105 to 110 degrees, the report said.

The service warns that hot temperatures and high humidity could create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

The report also encouraged those working outside to take extra precautions. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening, the service said.

Never leave anyone in a closed, parked vehicle, the service warned, temperatures inside can reach over 150 degrees quickly, resulting in heat stroke and death.

Pets can also succumb to the effects of excessive heat, the report said. Ensure pets have adequate drinking water and a shady place to rest.

The weather could cool off early next week, the report said.
