Full figure fashions, fun fill wet weekend in style

The 10th annual Little Rock Full Figure Fashion Weekend -- presented by Kurvy Kuties, an enterprise promoting "beauty, style, fashion, entertainment [and] self-love" among the plus-sized -- concluded June 23 with the Main Show, held in the Wally Allen Ballroom of the Statehouse Convention Center. Special guest was Kenya Freeman, Project Runway Season 16 finalist.

Hosted by Keisha Ri'chard-Patterson and Derrty DJ Deja Blu, the show wrapped up a three-day lineup of events consisting of a Brows and Beards workshop, a Patio Day Party and a showcase of ensembles at the store It's Fashion Metro. Heavy rain put a damper on attendance of Sunday's preceding event, a VIP Day Soiree at Big Whiskey's American Bar & Grill. But by showtime, the rain waned and the crowd began to swell. Various fashion vendors sold their wares at the back of the room.

Also featuring the "Men of Brawn" modeling clothes for the big and tall, the show began with an eye-catching dance number by performers in black leotards and bright blazers, followed by a display of white-party worthy fashions by the women of the modeling troupe and white and black suits and formalwear by the men. Clothing was featured from Figure 8, Sassy Customs by Brandee, Velvet Rose, 88 Moves, shoe designer Jay Karriem, and It's Fashion Metro. Ensembles by Voluptuous Beauty and Culture Clothing were also displayed on the catwalk. The Kurvy Kuties modeling troupe wrapped up the show ... proving once again that fashion-forward foxiness isn't restricted to a certain size.

Door prizes were given throughout the evening.
