NWA Food Bank

The Northwest Arkansas Food Bank recently received word from the Feeding America National Office that they have been selected to receive the FY20 Fight Hunger. Spark Change. Campaign Food Bank Engagement Grant thanks to the Walmart Foundation.

The 2019 Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign ran in all U.S. Walmart and Sam’s Club stores from April 22 to May 20. As in previous years, the campaign raised funds through the sale of products from participating suppliers and customer contributions at checkout. New this year was the opportunity for food banks to earn funds by leveraging local impact storytelling during the Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign to achieve the following goals: 1) Raise awareness of the issue of hunger locally and across the United States; 2) Engage the public in working with Feeding America member food banks to address hunger locally. The Walmart Foundation provided a total of $2,250,000 in unrestricted funding available to support member food banks. Grant funds have been awarded to food banks based on total points earned, relative to the grand total of points. Award amounts are based on the scorecard system and range from $380 to $11,399.85. The Northwest Arkansas Food Bank has been awarded the maximum amount due to its marketing efforts and participation with this campaign.
