Zookeepers get benefit of quirkily named event

Helping to save an endangered species and sampling local wine was the motivation for a fun event with a quirky name -- Winos for Rhinos. The event was hosted by the Arkansas chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK) at River Bottom Winery at BoBrook Farms in Roland.

Besides sampling from 10 of the winery's offerings, the evening included a buffet of appetizers, music and a silent auction with items made by zoo animals and products from local businesses. Wine glasses painted by various zoo animals were for sale.

Money raised at the event goes to the conservation of rhinos and other African species. AAZK is professional organization for zookeepers that raises money for wildlife conservation and for furthering the education of zookeepers.
