SPRINGDALE -- Jeen John of Springdale died Wednesday morning from injuries received in a hit-and-run incident earlier this month, said Lt. Jeff Taylor of the Springdale Police Department.

John, 23, was found at 6:53 a.m. Jan. 14 lying on Arkansas 264 at Ferns Valley Loop, near the intersection with North Thompson Street.

Race Fuller, 28, of Lowell was arrested Jan. 22 in connection with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. He was released Jan. 24 from the Benton County Jail on a $25,000 bond for the hit-and-run case and arrested again later that day on a warrant for violating a previous bond.

Fuller had been free on a $10,000 bond in connection with an August felony domestic battery charge involving a 2-year-old child.

The Benton County prosecutor's office asked for Fuller's bond to be revoked because of his arrest in the hit-and-run case. His bond was increased to $100,000 in connection with the battery case.

Fuller was not listed among the inmates Wednesday in the Benton County Jail. A message left at the jail asking for details about Fuller's release was not returned Wednesday.

Nathan Smith, Benton County prosecutor, said a charge of negligent homicide might be warranted if Fuller was intoxicated, but additional evidence is needed. The prosecutor's office continues to investigate the incident.

Fuller's arraignment on charges in connection with the hit-and-run is set for March 4.
