Giada De Laurentiis Entertains: Food Network series offers tips and recipes

Food Network kicked off the new year with the introduction of several series and new seasons of established shows. Here's a bit of a rundown:

Anne Burrell and Tyler Florence welcomed a new batch of hapless recruits they will try to whip into shape on Worst Cooks in America, which airs at 8 p.m. Sundays. It's pretty entertaining to watch everyday people who, believe it or not, can't cook an egg and somehow manage to burn water.

Valerie Bertinelli and Duff Goldman welcomed 12 talented young bakers into the kitchen on Kids Baking Championship. It airs at 8 p.m. Mondays. There's something very humbling about watching pre-teens make bakery-quality cakes, cookies and other treats from scratch.

Giada De Laurentiis is host of the competition series Winner Cake All in which four teams of bakers face off to create epic cakes for clients. It airs at 9 p.m. Mondays. She's also the star of Giada Entertains. Its season begins at 10:30 a.m. today and airs on subsequent Sundays. Whether it's a casual game night with friends, a family get-together or a simple kitchen party, De Laurentiis shares tips, secrets and recipes for planning the perfect event.

Also returning with new episodes this month are Beat Bobby Flay (9 p.m. Thursdays), Chopped (7 p.m. Tuesdays), Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (8 p.m. Fridays), Guys Grocery Games (8 p.m. Wednesdays), Girl Meets Farm (10 a.m. Sundays), The Kitchen (10 a.m. Saturdays) and Trisha's Southern Kitchen (11 a.m. Saturdays).
