Ozark Beer Company announced a new brew of beer and annual scholarship in tribute to Brig Caldwell, a former Rogers Heritage High School Student Relations and Community Liaison.

"Brig worked within the Rogers Public School System for the last thirteen years," the Rogers-based beer company stated Monday in a Facebook post. "He took his role very seriously, and that is why when Brig left us last month, he left a hole in Rogers and in so many people's lives."

Ozark Beer Company said all of the money raised from the new beer, called "Mr. Brig's Pale Ale", will fund an annual scholarship awarded to a Rogers Heritage student. The scholarship will begin in 2020.

This year's proceeds from the new beer, which became available Monday at 1 p.m., will be given to assist Caldwell's family, according to the post.

The company also announced it would host a gathering Friday, January 18, at its Rogers location to celebrate Caldwell and his family.

The scholarship is not the first effort by the Rogers community to raise money for Caldwell's family.

A GoFundMe campaign created to support the Caldwell family has raised $31,680 from 397 donors since Dec. 8.

According to a Facebook post by Rogers Heritage High School, Rogers Heritage alumni raised $2,300 at a car wash fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 15.

Brig Caldwell was admitted to the hospital on Nov. 28, where he was diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach, liver and bone cancer the next day, according to the GoFundMe campaign. Caldwell died on Friday, Dec. 14.
