Bentonville man dies following bicycle, pickup truck accident

A Bentonville man died Tuesday from injuries when a pickup truck struck the bicycle he was riding.

Bentonville Police Department officers responded to the accident Saturday at about 5:50 p.m. on SE J Street in Bentonville, a release from the department said.

Roger J. Palmer had stopped his unlit bicycle in the roadway when he was struck from behind by a pickup truck driven by Thomas Allison, 76, of Bentonville.

Palmer, 66, died at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo.

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is still ongoing, the release said.
