Where I live: I live in the Lakewood area of North Little Rock -- a community developed by Justin Mathews, where most of the houses were constructed from the late 1940s through the 1960s.

Occupation: I work as a subcontractor in the gardening center of a nearby home center. I enjoy stocking and displaying the seasonal plants and trees, but mostly enjoy the interaction with the great customers.

My favorite space is: our combined kitchen/den area.

Why? Our home is an awesome midcentury-modern house constructed in 1954. It was built by and lived in by one of the original builders in Lakewood. The combined room has a complete wall of glass offering awesome views of the surrounding hills, stunning sunsets, and — depending on the season — a peek of the lake far below. The nearly 20-foot wall of floor-to-ceiling glass features a double set of sliding glass doors and looks out into our covered porch as well as the forest-like yard and beyond. The ridge-line views change with the seasons ... lush green trees in spring and summer; autumn leaves in the fall and Christmas lights in the winter. Cooking and entertaining in this space is a joy and we love sharing it with our friends and family.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: add an under-counter drink refrigerator.
