FAYETTEVILLE -- Police in Fayetteville and Fort Smith worked together to identify and arrest a man in connection with a New Year's Eve shooting that left one person wounded at a house in the south part of town.

Devonta Smith of Fort Smith was arrested Wednesday and faces charges of first-degree battery, aggravated assault and committing a terroristic act.

Sgt. Anthony Murphy, spokesman for the Fayetteville Police Department, said Wednesday afternoon Smith had not yet been interviewed by Fayetteville police and the investigation is continuing.

Officers were called to 1101 S. Curtis Ave. about 11:30 p.m. Monday. A person with a gunshot wound was taken to a hospital and treated and released.
