Lanterns! light the way at Wildwood fundraiser

The first night of Lanterns! on Feb. 15 was chilly and damp, but that didn't stop festivalgoers from traveling from Chicago to Germany along the lantern-lined lakeside paths of Wildwood Park for the Arts.

Areas around the park featured food and family friendly activities from different cultures including the international destinations of Germany, Mexico, China and the United Kingdom.

Guests could also visit "The Moon and Beyond" where they could buy food such as Darth Vader Taters, Leia Buns and Yoda Soda. Closer to home, the Lucy Cabe Festival Theater housed this year's American city of choice -- Chicago. Visitors could dine on deep-dish pizza, ballpark hot dogs and cotton candy at the Dugout Sports Bar; enjoy a performance in the Theater District or drink gin and tonics in Al Capone's Speak Easy.

The three-day festival, which celebrates the first full moon of the lunar new year, is a fundraiser for Wildwood's gardens and programming.
