James Bright has been named general manager of the Texarkana Gazette, Mark Lane, president of WEHCO News Division, said Friday.
Before taking the position with the Texarkana Gazette, Bright served as regional publisher and advertising director at the Duncan Banner in Duncan, Okla.
Bright earned his bachelor's degree in journalism at Texas A&M Commerce in 2011.
He went to work with an Alabama-based newspaper chain, beginning as managing editor for the Rockwall, Texas, newspaper after finishing college. Then he was transferred to work as managing editor for a paper in Chickasha and Duncan, Okla. He was promoted to regional publisher at Duncan.
In 2018, he left the newspaper business for about a year.
"James has a very sharp mind," Lane said. "He really deeply loves this business and what newspapers represent and stand for. And he's learned a ton about the digital side of the business."
