Beaver Lake
Anglers report good crappie fishing on the south end of the lake.
James Whittle at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said the War Eagle arm is a good area to fish. Blue Springs and Pin Hook areas are also good. Target lay-down trees or standing timber with minnows or jigs. Whittle recommends using a black and chartreuse jig with a red one-sixteenth-ounce jig head.
Black bass are biting Alabama rigs, jerk baits and crawdad-colored crank baits. The crank bait bite has been subpar this winter, Whittle said. Try for striped bass with brood minnows in the Prairie Creek area and between Point 5 and Starkey park.
Garland Villines at Hickory Creek Marina echoed the good crappie fishing. Fish with jigs around brush 15 to 18 feet deep. Striped bass are biting near Eden's Bluff on brood minnows, Villines said.
Beaver tailwater
Natalie Howe at Beaver Dam Store said power generation has decreased, creating better conditions to fish from the bank for trout.
Try Power Bait in bright colors. Good lures include small jigs, small spoons and countdown Rapalas. Go with nymphs or midges in low water for fly fishing. Try streamers in high water.
Lake Sequoyah
Mike Carver at the lake office said catfish are biting bass minnows near the old White River bridge. Try jigs for crappie five to 10 feet deep.
Lake Fayetteville
David Powell at the lake office recommends using small jigs for crappie. Go with liver for catfish.
Bella Vista
Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista recommends fishing for trout at Lake Brittany with Power Bait or small spoons.
Swepco Lake
Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said fishing for black bass is good with all types of soft plastic lures rigged any style. Try top-water lures in low light.
Eastern Oklahoma
Stroud recommends fishing for black bass at Lake Eucha with Alabama rigs or jerk baits.
Table Rock Lake
Fishing guide John Sappington said black bass fishing is tough. Try Alabama rigs, jerk baits or crawdad-colored crank baits.
