Huntsville 75,

Harrison 70 (3 OT)

Beau Whelchel’s putback with 38 seconds left in the third overtime put Huntsville ahead for good as the Eagles defeated Harrison and took over sole possession of first place in the 4A-1 Conference’s East Division standings.

Whelchel’s bucket off an offensive rebound snapped a 67-67 tie, then Marpin Bokbwij’s steal led to Kent Mayes’ two free throws and gave Huntsville (16-8, 8-1) a 71-67 lead with 21 seconds left. Jacob Shrum’s three-point play made it a one-point game with 15 seconds left, but Sean McCone hit two free throws and Mayes added two more to seal the game after Shrum — whose 3-pointer with 2 seconds left in the second overtime tied the game at 63 — misfired on a game-tying 3-point attempt with 5 seconds remaining. The win not only gives Huntsville a one-game lead over Harrison (17-6, 7-2), but the Eagles also have a series sweep and a tiebreaker advantage over the Goblins with two games left in league play.

Booneville 66,Two Rivers 28

Blakley Cobb poured in 18 points to lead the Bearcats to the easy 3A-4 Conference win.

Logan Bradley added 17 and Grant Goers 10 for Booneville (23-1, 13-0). Camryn Lawson also dished out six assists.

Charleston 77, Waldron 55

Blaine Rowland had 22 points and Brayden Ross added 20 as Charleston rolled past Waldron in 3A-1 West Conference action. The Tigers (16-5, 12-1) jumped out to a 22-13 lead after one quarter, then led 39-26 at halftime and 62-40 after three quarters.

Kaleb Fisher added 12 points and Jacob Green 11 for Charleston. Payton Brown led Waldron with 18, while Drew Dozier chipped in 14.

Deer 97, The New School 76

Freshman Keegan Middleton hit eight straight 3-pointers — all in the second half — as Deer ran past The New School in 1A-1 Conference action at Deer.

Caden Young hit five 3-pointers in the first quarter as the Antlers (25-8, 11-1) took a 22-10 lead. He hit a sixth 3-pointer and finished with 30 points as Deer outscored The New School (23-6, 7-5) 34-28 in the fourth quarter, with Middleton hitting six 3-pointers over the last 8 minutes.

Johnny Smith added 21 points and Dylan Smith 16 for the Antlers. Tysen Barbour led the Cougars with 24 points, followed by Chase Ammons with 20 and Jan Sturner with 19.

Jasper 57, Valley Springs 50

Caleb Carter had 22 points to lead Jasper to a nonconference victory at home over Valley Springs.

Chance Pruitt added 15 for the Pirates (25-9), who led 22-18 at halftime and stretched it out to 37-30 after three quarters. Ethan Flud led Valley Springs (29-3) with 16 points, followed by Isaac Ragland with 12 and Trell Trammell with 10.

Western Grove 51,

Omaha 48

Four Western Grove players finished in double figures as the Warriors edged Omaha and took over third place in the 1A-2 Conference standings.

Hunter Baker had 14 points for Western Grove (24-8, 11-5), which had a 31-26 halftime lead before Omaha (14-14, 10-6) cut it to 38-35 after three quarters. Carsen Parker was next with 12, followed by Zach Bolin with 11 and Luke Lane with 10.

Smith 56, Scranton 49

Jaylon McCullough had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead Future School of Fort Smith to a 1A-4 Conference win Friday night.

Jashon Smith added 17 points for Future School (10-10, 7-4).

Beebe 55, Siloam Springs 42

Getting 16 points from senior Hayden Montgomery, the Badgers (8-12, 3-5) stopped the Panthers (7-12, 2-6) in a 5A-West game in Beebe.

Caleb Barrentine added 13 and E.J. Smith 10 for Beebe, which led 22-16 at the half. Caleb Sauer scored 10 points to lead Siloam Springs.

Bergman 74, Marshall 55

Elijah Royce had 31 points and 25 rebounds to lead Bergman to a 3A-1 East Conference victory over Marshall.

Shelton Welsh added 19 points for Bergman (26-6, 9-3), which outscored Marshall 19-9 in the second quarter and turned a five-point lead into a 41-26 halftime cushion.

GIRLS

Morrilton 40, Clarksville 38

Morrilton gained sole possession of first place in the 4A-4 Conference standings by edging host Clarksville.

Morrilton led 22-21 at halftime, but Clarksville (19-7, 8-3) came back to force a 28-28 tie after three quarters.

Autumn Miller led the Lady Panthers with 13 points.

Charleston 45, Waldron 22

Alli Green had 18 points as Charleston defeated Waldron and clinched the 3A-1 West Conference regular-season title.

Baylee King added 10 for the Lady Tigers (22-1, 13-0), who took an 18-11 halftime lead and stretched it to a 36-20 cushion after three quarters.

Charleston can complete a perfect run through league play Friday at Elkins.

Omaha 60,

Western Grove 54

Omaha outscored Western Grove 23-12 in the fourth quarter as the Lady Eagles rallied to earn a 1A-2 Conference victory.

Macie Arnold and Kendall Atchison each had 19 points for Omaha (18-13, 10-6), while Taylor Tucker added 10. Kayla Baker led Western Grove (8-17, 1-11) with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Hailey Woods chipped in 13.

Little Rock Christian 57,

Greenwood 51

Senior guard Reagan Bradley scored 13 of her game-high 23 points in the final 3:31 as the Lady Warriors rallied from a five-point deficit in 5A-West action.

The victory places Little Rock Christian (19-2, 7-1) solidly in second place behind Vilonia (19-1, 8-0) in the league standings. Greenwood (13-7, 5-3) is tied with Russellville (13-7, 5-3) for third.

Bradley, senior Amber Brown and sophomore Wynter Rogers combined to score all but two of the Lady Warriors’ points. They also had 24 of the team’s 35 rebounds.

Sparked by senior Kyiah Julian and sophomore Ally Sockey, Greenwood scored 12 of the first 14 points of the fourth quarter to grab a 41-36 advantage with 5:11 remaining. From there, it was all Little Rock Christian.

Brown scored 17 points, had 6 rebounds and three assists. Wynter Rogers added 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Sockey led Greenwood with 15 points while sophomore Kinley Fisher added 10.

Vilonia 59, Alma 31

Paige Kelley scored a game-high 17 points as Vilonia (19-1, 8-0) remained undefeated in 5A-West play with a victory over Alma.

Vilonia led 20-6 after the first quarter and 34-17 at halftime before outscoring Vilonia 25-14 in the second half.

Cassidy Cooper led Alma (8-10, 2-6) with 12 points.

Pea Ridge 22,

Prairie Grove 21

Hollyn Davis scored nine points for Pea Ridge, which overcame slowdown tactics used by Prairie Grove in an effort to pull off the upset.

Pea Ridge improved to 21-4 overall and 8-2 in 4A-1 Conference play. Jasmine Wynos scored 10 points for Prairie Grove, which fell to 8-13 overall and 1-9 in the league.

Two Rivers 45, Booneville 15

Kaitlin Hunnicutt scored a game-high 29 points to lead the Lady Gators (20-6, 12-1 3A-4). Shelby Posey scored 11 for Booneville (5-16, 2-11).

West Fork 58, Mansfield 22

Hannah Johnson scored 15 points to lead the Lady Tigers (13-12, 5-7) to a 3A-1 West Conference win Friday night.

North Little Rock 71,

Little Rock Central 60

The Charging Wildcats started the second half of its 6A-Central Conference schedule with a victory.

North Little Rock (18-5) improved to 6-2 in the 6A-Central and is tied with Conway for second place. The Charging Wildcats host Conway on Tuesday.

Senior forward Collin Moore led the Charging Wildcats with 19 points. Junior guard Spencer Simes scored 18 points.

The Tigers (14-6, 4-4), whose four-game winning streak ended Friday, were led by senior forward Rajhon McIntosh’s 21 points. Senior guard A.J. Williams finished with 19 points.

Hope 74, De Queen 61

Zakee Lawson scored 19 points and Hope evened its 4A-7 record with a victory over visiting De Queen.

Torey Phillips had 18 points for Hope (8-12, 5-5), and Jaydon Riley poured in 16.

Davin Burgess scored a game-high 24 points in the loss for De Queen (3-19, 0-10), and Weston Harp added 18.

Little Rock Parkview 86,

Sylvan Hills 75

Allen Flanigan paced the Patriots (14-6, 6-2) with 49 points in a 5A-Central Conference victory in Sherwood.

Flanigan also had six rebounds and five assists. Airion Simmons added 15 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks for Parkview.

Pine Bluff 48,

Jacksonville 47

Pine Bluff hit a shot with 5.7 seconds left to send the Zebras (9-9, 7-1) to a 5A-Central Conference victory over the visiting Titans (11-8, 4-4).

Senior Kaleb Higgins scored 21 points for Pine Bluff, which led 30-22 at the half.

Mykel Moore led Jacksonville with 15 points while Jordan Maxwell put in 14.

Searcy 73, Paragould 55

Junior Freddy Hicks led the Lions (9-12, 2-6) with 20 points in a 5A-East home victory over the Rams (6-13, 0-8).

Trystan Alcorn added 19 points and Griffin Love 15 for Searcy, which led 35-28 at the half.

Cole Doke scored a game-high 26 points for Paragould.

GIRLS

Batesville 71, Brookland 58

Taylor Griffin scored a team-high 32 points to lead Batesville to a 4A-3 championship with a victory at Brookland.

Izzy Higginbottom had 21 points for the Lady Pioneers (22-2, 13-0), who outscored the Lady Bearcats 29-11 in the second quarter to take a 39-20 halftime lead. Reese Gardner added 12 points.

Kalifa Ford scored a game-high 35 points in the loss for Brookland (15-6, 10-3).

Camden Fairview 52,

Crossett 27

Camden Fairview outscored visiting Crossett 34-11 in the first half to cruise to a 4A-8 victory. Jhiya Jefferson led Camden Fairview with 12 points and Jayla Jackson added 11.

Central Arkansas Christian 67, Baptist Prep 53

Freshman Ava Knoedle led the Lady Mustangs (17-7, 12-0) with 21 points in a 3A-5 Conference victory over the visiting Lady Eagles (10-14 , 5-7).

Sophomore Bethany Dillard added 13 and junior Brittany Williams 11 for CAC, which led 34-25 at the half.

Josie Stewart scored 18 points to lead Baptist Prep.

De Queen 74, Hope 44

Ashlyn Chambers scored 30 points as De Queen remained undefeated in 4A-7 play with a victory in Hope.

Abby Dykes had 15 points for De Queen (21-2, 10-0), while Ashley Dykes added 10.

Marianna McClenton led Hope (1-13, 0-10) with 15 points and Dahria Woods chipped in with 13.

North Little Rock 64,

Little Rock Central 37

Jordyn Neal scored 16 points to lead the Lady Charging Wildcats (12-8, 6-1 6A-Central Conference) past the Lady Tigers (8-11, 3-5) in North Little Rock.

Amauri Williams had 14 points for North Little Rock. The Lady Charging Wildcats used a 12-1 run in the second quarter to take a 33-20 lead, and they went into halftime with a 36-22 advantage. North Little Rock led 51-30 entering the fourth quarter.

Lauryn Pendleton led Central with 17 points.

Pulaski Academy 77,

Little Rock McClellan 22

Mattie Hatcher scored 19 points and Riley Smith had 14 to lead host Pulaski Academy (12-8, 8-3) over Little Rock McClellan in a 4A-5 game.

Jazmene McMillan and Taylor Hernandez both had 10 for the Lady Bruins. Pulaski Academy led 23-3 after the first quarter, 43-12 at halftime and 70-17 after three quarters.

Shay Patterson had eight points for McClellan (8-10, 5-6).

Sheridan 32, Benton 31

Junior guard Cassidy Henry hit two free throws with 1.7 seconds left to lift Sheridan to a pivotal 5A-South Conference victory.

Henry finished with 12 points, and senior forward Diamond Morris had 11 points, nine rebounds and three steals for Sheridan (18-3, 6-3), which put a stop to its two-game losing streak.

Senior guard Kati Morrow had 10 points for Benton (13-9, 6-3). Senior guard Tenise Robinson added 6 points, 12 rebounds and 3 steals for the Lady Panthers, who’ve lost the last six meetings between the two but used a 6-0 run over the final minutes to grab a 31-28 lead.

Morris had a steal and conversion with 44 seconds remaining to pull the Lady Jackets within 31-30 before Henry hit her free throws.

Watson Chapel 61,

Little Rock Hall 48

Trailing by two at halftime, host Watson Chapel outscored Little Rock Hall 23-12 in the third quarter and 38-23 in the second half of a 5A-Central game.

Ky’aria Ginger led Watson Chapel (12-9, 7-1) with 16 points, while Dekeira Kentle had 14 and Taylor Whitted chipped in with 13. Allexias Adams and Tyianna Robinson each scored a game-high 19 points for Hall (5-13, 4-4).

White Hall 54, Maumelle 50

Sam Jackson scored a game-high 24 points as visiting White Hall (7-9, 2-6) outscored Maumelle 24-18 in the second half to turn a two-point halftime deficit into a 5A-Central victory.

Ramiah Freeman added 13 points for White Hall.

Jordan Cribbs-Polk led Maumelle (5-15, 2-6) with 18 points.

PREP INDOOR TRACK

Class 4A Girls

Cassidy Mooneyhan broke a meet record in the girls pole vault and Blakelee Winn earned high-point honors as Pea Ridge won its second straight indoor title during Friday’s 1A/4A meet in Fayetteville.

Mooneyhan cleared 12 feet, 6 inches to break the previous mark of 12-1 set by Stephanie Irwin of Mount Ida in 2004. Winn, meanwhile, led a 1-2-3 Pea Ridge finish in the 60 meters with her time of 8.13 seconds, then won the 400 in 1 minute, 4.3 seconds, the 60 hurdles in 9.73 seconds and the long jump at 16-6.

Pea Ridge compiled 199 points, while Gravette was a distant second at 103.

Class 4A Boys

Hector Hernandez set a meet record in the 800 meters to lead to De Queen to the Class 4A boys state title.

Hernandez finished the race in 1 minute, 59.86 seconds and broke the previous mark of 2:00.19 set by Malachi Cannon of Heber Springs in 2015. He also won the 1,600 with his time of 4:35.20.

Another record was broken as Hope’s Muldrow Nikorean ran the 60 in 7.00 seconds, breaking the previous mark of 7.08 set by Andrew Corter of Magnet Cove in 2008.

De Queen finished the meet with 103 points, while Pea Ridge took second with 73 points. Nashville was a close third with 65.

Class 3A Boys

Gabino Grano and Bryson Bailey each won an event and helped Waldron take the Class 3A boys state title.

Grano won the 200 with a time of 23.62 seconds, while Bailey took the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 2 inches. Bailey also took second in the 60 and third in the triple jump.

Waldron finished with 112 points, while Genoa Central took second with 100.5 and Cave City was third at 66.

Class 3A Girls

Erica Davis and Jaden Kirdendoll each had a first-place finish and led Waldron to the 3A state title.

Davis won the 60 hurdles in 10.82 seconds, while Kirdendoll has the best performance in the high jump by clearing 4-10.

The Lady Bulldogs compiled 129 points while Genoa Central was a distant second with 71.

Class 1A/2A Boys

Magazine had six different athletes win their events as the Rattlers claimed the team title in the smallest classification.

Magazine had 122 points to 81 for second-place Yellville-Summit, while Caddo Hills took third with 65.

The Rattlers’ winners included Tatum Scott in the 200 (23.92); Xeng Yang in the 60 hurdles

(10.44), Chase Gibson in the high jump (5-10), Ashton Droemer in the long jump (19-10), Caleb Hyatt in the shot put (43-6) and Jessie Whitt in the triple jump (43-11.5).

Class 1A/2A Girls

Yellville-Summit picked up wins by Hailey Layton and the 4x800 relay team as the Lady Panthers claimed the 1A/2A state team title. Yellville-Summit finished the meet with 80 points, while Decatur edged Magazine for second place by a 60-58 margin.

Layton cleared 4-8 to win the high jump, while the team of Ashley Kittler, Cassie Jones, Kasey Baker and Jasmine Campbell won the 4x800 relay team with a time of 13:02.43.
