BENTONVILLE -- A Rogers man was arrested in connection with raping a 12-year-old girl after nude images of the child were found on an iPad, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Randolph Charette, 53, was arrested Wednesday in connection with two counts of rape, nine counts of computer child pornography and sexual assault. Prosecutors haven't filed any formal charges against Charette.

He was being held Thursday in the Benton County Jail with no bond set.

The girl's mother reported to Rogers police she saw pornographic images of a girl on her 9-year-old son's iPad, and it was connected to Charette's Gmail account, according to the affidavit. The mother said she later noticed the photographs were of her daughter, according to the affidavit.

Police saw the images and found nine nude photographs of the girl, according to the affidavit.

The girl was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center of Benton County. The girl was able to give details of being sexually abused by Charette. The girl said the abuse began when she was 11 years old, according to the affidavit.

The girl said Charette took photographs of her and also showed her a pornographic movie, according to the affidavit.

Charette was questioned by police and denied sexually abusing the girl and claimed she was lying, according to the affidavit.

Charette's arraignment is scheduled for 8 a.m. March 11 in Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren's court.
