Rogers man accused of rape

A Rogers man was arrested last week in connection with raping a 16-year-old girl.

Kenneth Steward was released from the Benton County Jail after posting a $200,000 bond. He was arrested in connection with rape and sexual assault. Prosecutors haven't filed formal charges against Steward.

Rogers police began investigating Dec. 4 after a school employee told a school resource officer about an incident involving a student, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The student told the school employee Steward engaged in a sexual act with her, according to the affidavit.

The girl was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center of Benton County where she reported she was raped and sexually assaulted by Steward, according to the affidavit.

Steward was questioned by police and admitted to having sexual contact with the girl, according to the affidavit.

Steward's arraignment is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Jan. 13 in Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren's court.
