HOPE -- The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Foundation is trying to raise funds to complete the Willie Buck Endowed Scholarship.

The scholarship benefits a full-time student enrolled in the applied science in business technology program or the business program.

The foundation provides some financial support to the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana, a pair of community college campuses in Hope and Texarkana.

The scholarship is named after Willie Buck, who began teaching at Red River Vocational-Technical school in 1975 and retired in 2010 as dean of the business and technology division of what was then called the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope after 35 years.

During those years, he worked to ensure all students were given the opportunity to learn to use the software and become proficient in its application.

Many colleagues who worked with Buck mention his kindness and caring touch while he fulfilled his administrative duties. Well-respected among other faculty and staff members and his fellow deans, he was known for his consistency in professional attire.

The latest part of the fund drive coincides with the event #GivingTuesday.
