Mission: Our intent is to support the presence and participation of people with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. We believe everyone has the right to live in their home and community as an active and accepted member.

Services provided: We provide a wide range of services through our Recreation, Vocational, Community Living, Center for Enrichment and Family Support programs. Each program aims to holistically empower both children and adults with developmental disabilities by supporting their power of choice in all areas of life.

How is ASN unique? Our organization's mission is unique in several ways. Not only are we a direct service provider, we also practice advocacy on the local and state level to influence legislation that impacts the community we support. In addition, we offer educational events that aim to raise awareness of ways people can reduplicate our mission of inclusion in their own lives and spheres of influence. We partner with many local organizations to create organic moments of inclusion within our local community through our special events and community activities. We also maintain a presence within our local school districts so that parents and educators are constantly aware of the rights that students with disabilities have in their classrooms

Are there any volunteer opportunities? The main goal for our volunteer program is to partner with local community members to develop activities that organically promote inclusion. Common activities that volunteers often develop and lead include: attending sports games to cheer for individuals we support, participating in bingo and card game tournaments, leading classes for our Center for Enrichment such as knitting classes and makeup tutorials, developing craft activities, planting in our community garden and attend our holiday dances.

What upcoming events are planned? On Aug. 30 we will be hosting our annual fundraising event "The Great Tailgate" at Shiloh Square in downtown Springdale from 7 to 10 p.m. The Great Tailgate is our annual opportunity to raise funding for our programs so that we can continue our mission of supporting people with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. It is also our time to celebrate the first University of Arkansas home football game of the season against Portland State. Jukeboxx Party Band will be providing live entertainment. We will also have delicious grilled food catered by Catering Unlimited, craft beer from CORE Brewery, wine from Liquor World as well as a silent and live auction. To purchase a ticket, visit supports.org and scroll to our upcoming events and click "The Great Tailgate" link. Tickets will also be sold on-site next Friday.
