BENTONVILLE -- Benton County Circuit Judge Doug Schrantz announced he's seeking re-election.

Schrantz serves as the Division 6 judge for the 19th Judicial District West. He has served since Jan. 1, 2009.

His caseload includes family law cases, civil cases, probate cases and any cases that cannot be heard by the criminal and juvenile divisions because of conflicts.

"I've found this position very satisfying," Schrantz said. "I particularly enjoy the writing and research, and I make it a priority to continue to be available and responsive to my constituents and the legal community."

Schrantz, 67, had a private law practice in Rogers and was general counsel for the Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association for many years. He has spent more than three decades in public service as the Rogers city attorney, Rogers municipal judge and Benton County district judge.

Schrantz has been appointed special associate justice to the Arkansas Supreme Court by Gov. Asa Hutchinson. He was also appointed by the chief justice of the state Supreme Court to hear cases in other jurisdictions.

He has served six years as administrative judge for the district.

Schrantz, of Rogers, graduated from the University of Arkansas' School of Law in 1976. He started his law practice in downtown Rogers in March 1977, handling primarily family law and real estate cases.

He served five years on the board of directors for the Arkansas District Judges Association.

Schrantz is a member of the Arkansas Bar Association and the Benton County Bar Association.

Elections in Arkansas for circuit judges are nonpartisan. The 2020 election will be March 3. Runoffs will be on the general election ballot in November.

Circuit judges serve six-year terms and are paid $168,096 a year.
