He and a partner opened the original Country Time Meat Shoppe at 3042 N. Market Avenue in Fayetteville in the 1980s. In 1997, McGinnis took over and made it his own family business, renaming it Richard's Country Meat Market.

Richard's has much more to offer than an amazing variety of high-quality meats and seafood. They have party trays and sliced meats and cheeses from their full-service deli; hot soups, wraps, and sandwiches for lunch (with breads, rolls and desserts they bake in-house); they have countless herbs, spices, and marinades, and so much more for breakfast, lunch and dinner. After all these years, they have an impressive following of loyal, satisfied customers.

The shop's homemade recipes use their premium cuts of beef, pork, chicken, lamb, veal, or specialty meats like locally raised buffalo to keep you coming back for more. Their best sellers are their seasoned burgers (including a Bison Burger) made from fresh-ground beef, and the classic bacon-wrapped tenderloin filet. "We're the only place you can get Chairman's Reserve beef in Fayetteville," says McGinnis of his top-choice and prime-rated steaks from Tyson-owned IBP. "It's customer service and quality that separate us from the competition."
