Hike focuses on wildflowers
A guided two and a half mile wildflower hike is set for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Back 40 trails in Bella Vista.
Master Naturalist Cheryl hall will lead the hike from Bear hollow trailhead to the tower trailhead. free shuttle service is provided for hikers to return to their vehicles.
The hike is limited to 25. Registration is required. Sign up online at http://bit.ly/wildflowerhike.
Kings river cleanup set
Kings River Watershed partnership will hold a cleanup along the river beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Volunteers should bring their own boats and lunch. Shuttles and trash bags will be provided. For details visit kingsriverwatershed. org.
Bass tournament benefits charity
The Pagnozzi Parker Charity Big Bass tournament is set for Saturday at Beaver lake.
Entry fee is $60 per angler. First prize overall is $5,000, with $1,000 for second overall. Hourly cash prizes are also awarded. Profits benefit pagnozzi parker youth sports programs.

Masons win Team Trail contest
Brent Mason and Matt Mason won the Northwest Arkansas team trail bass tournament held March 30 at Beaver lake. Their five bass totaled 17.77 pounds.
Scott foster and Sam Mahaffey placed second with five bass at 15.78 pounds. Terry Duffel and Brent Chesser were third with five bass at 15.53 pounds.
Fourth through 10th were: fourth, Russell taylor, Jason hargis, 15.01; fifth, Steve Drain, pichard Vongpraphanh, 14.7; sixth, Allen Shannon, Warren Edwards, 14.54; seventh, Roger Easley, Mark Donahue, 14.52; eighth, Richard irvin, Clay tramonte, 14.29; ninth, Zach Zajicek, Michael Zajicek, 14.19; 10th, travis fox, preston long, 14.15.
Sumter tops FLW field
Brit Sumter of prairie Grove won the FLW Bass fishing league okie Division tournament held April 6 on the Arkansas River. His five bass totaled 18 pounds, 1 ounce.
Sumter fished spawning pockets in the Webber falls pool to catch his fish.
Commission hosts town hall
The Arkansas Game and fish Commission will hold an open town hall-style meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 23 at the Jones Center for families in Springdale.
The public is invited to come and ask the commissioners questions and learn more about the agency’s work.
There will be some brief presentations before the open question period. Anyone who wishes to speak is encouraged to attend and sign up at the door to be called upon.
Tour explores wetland
The Society of Wetland Scientists will host a wetland ecology tour from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. May 4 at Woolsey Wet prairie, 15 S. Broyles St., in Fayetteville.
Local experts in botany, ornithology and herpetology will give presentations and lead hikes.
