Land of the Fresh, Home of the Beef

Northwest Arkansas’ Angus Jack is classic American dream come true

The Angus Jack story is one steeped in romance, family, quality, commitment and AJ signature sauce.

Ian and Jean Cairns are a couple of high school sweethearts from Northern Ireland who married and moved to America, and have firmly planted roots within the Northwest Arkansas community. "We love the community here," said Jean. "There are so many families that come in to eat, and we're always looking for more ways to give back." The pair isn't content with just raising the bar on local burger standards: they've created their own playful place with great deals on fun and healthy options for the whole family.

The commitment to excellence and inclusion at Angus Jack was amplified when Ian's father was diagnosed with celiac disease. The Cairns' devotion to family meant there was no way they were going to build a restaurant that their own family couldn't enjoy. They recognize the value of eating together, especially when everyone isn't in the mood for (or physically can't eat) the same thing. This way of thinking is what inspired our burger champions to expand their menu to include delicious chicken sandwiches and strips, seasonal salads, black bean burger patties and a (frankly shocking) variety of tasty gluten-free sides. "We take gluten sensitivity very seriously here," said Ian. "We go out of our way so you don't have to go out of yours to eat together as a family -- no matter what you're all craving, or despite any limitations."

Between their "Kids Eat Free Mondays" campaign that allows one free kids meal per adult entree between 4-8pm, their unique Jack Frost drinks and shakes, and their dedicated gluten-free fryer and separate GF-bun toaster which allow them to cater to even the most severe gluten allergies; you'll find plenty of reasons to add Angus Jack to your weekly routine. You may consider changing up your official Burger Night in light of their "Half-Off Hump-Day" promo for half-priced burgers from 5-9pm every Wednesday at their Springdale location. True AJ fans know there is no real dilemma when it comes to choosing a day for Angus Jack: Their top-quality food and service is consistently so, seven days a week.

You'll start to see the AJ difference as soon as you arrive at either location. If your creative juices are flowing, you don't even have to order from the menu. Just make it up as you go! That's how custom their burgers are. "Custom-made to order" at Angus Jack means they're making what you want, how you want it, right when you want it, and they don't ask why you want it -- and if you ask me, that's exactly who I want cooking for me and mine.

Of course, you can't go wrong if you choose something from their tried-and-true menu items either; like the hugely satisfying Wee Jack sliders, the extraordinary Ultimate (Fried!) Grilled Cheese, or the towering Lumber Jack with its three juicy Angus beef patties and three slices of premium cheeses with fresh veggies, your choice of sauces and anything else you'd like to add -- I've heard there's someone out there adding an egg to this beast of a burger! If that seems a little over the top, fear not: opting for less quantity definitely doesn't cut down on the quality. In fact, one could argue that with fewer beef patties, there is more room to "Jack-It-Up" with any number of add-ons you'll choose from their list of Jack-It-Up items. A few highlights from that list include fried pickles, a pineapple ring, blue cheese crumbles, fried onion strings, eggs and bacon (yes, please), and my personal favorite: grilled jalapeños.

Don't forget you can always phone in your order or take advantage of their drive-through windows, and Angus Jack has a fantastic catering menu. Did I mention they cut their fries in house? They hand-cut their fries, hand-form their patties, hand-dip their shakes, and even hand-make several of their own sauces in-house. Fresh means FRESH here, folks. No jokes.
