Northwest Health building Fayetteville ER

Northwest Health held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for an emergency department in Fayetteville.

The new facility will be at 1255 S. Shiloh Drive, the site of the former Clarion Hotel. The construction represents an investment of approximately $9.5 million, according to Denten Park, market CEO for Northwest Health. The 10,300-square-foot facility will house advanced technology, including a 64-slice CT scanner.

The 24/7 emergency department will be an extension of services for Northwest Health. It is expected to be completed in the fall of 2019.

Northwest Health is leasing 2.8 acres of the 7-acre tract. Commercial Realty LLC, based in Little Rock is developing the facility, and Brentwood, Tenn.-based HFR Design is the project architect.

SWEPCO earns 2019 Energy Star Award

Southwestern Electric Power Co. was named a 2019 Energy Star Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award winner for the company's energy efficiency program in Arkansas.

This is the fifth consecutive year SWEPCO has received the recognition.

The 2019 award is for energy efficiency program delivery, Home Performance with Energy Star. The program promotes the use of Energy Star-certified products and technologies.

Energy Star awards are presented by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. The Sustained Excellence Award is the highest Energy Star honor.

Fort Smith Chamber seeks award entries

The Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations until April 19 for the Jack White Community Leadership Award.

The award is for an individual who has made a difference in his profession or area of involvement in the community. The winner will be announced at the Leadership Fort Smith Commencement & Award Ceremony on May 15.

The award has been given annually since 1990.

Nominations must include, in essay format, the ways the nominee has demonstrated effective leadership and how the nominee's accomplishments have benefited the community, including results or outcomes. It must also contain two letters of recommendation or support that cite specific examples of the nominee's contributions to the community.
