ROGERS -- Bentonville West used a solid service game to earn a hard-fought 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-23) win over Rogers High in 6A-West Conference volleyball Tuesday night at King Arena.

The Lady Wolverines (15-13, 7-3 6A-West) served up 11 aces to keep the Lady Mounties (9-19, 3-7) off-balance at times.

"I was really proud of them for serving to certain seams and zones we were trying to get to," Bentonville West coach Julie Rowan said. "They were able to execute that really well."

The Wolverines, who remain tied for second in the conference with Bentonville High, trailed 22-21 in the opening set but scored four out of the last five points for the win. They scored back-to-back points to finish the set as Kerryann Ptacek banged a kill off the block and Kortney Puckett crushed the overpass. West led 24-19 in the third set but had to hold off a late Rogers charge to close out the match.

Junior Avery Kniss finished with a match-high four aces for West, but Ptacek enjoyed a strong all-around match. The 5-foot-8 senior outside hitter keyed the attack with a team-high nine kills and three aces, while Puckett added eight kills and four blocks (one solo).

"We had other people in the mix a lot. Kerryann Ptacek had a really big night for us on the outside. They were teaming up on Kortney a lot, which we know is gonna happen with everybody. I felt like other girls stepped in and took off some of that weight. And we had fantastic defense. Shea O'Brien, our libero tonight, was on it."

O'Brien finished with a team-high 14 digs, while setter Winnie Spurlock contributed a double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs.

Rowan was pleased with how her team adjusted from a 6-2 offense to a 5-1 with senior setter Lexi Carter out with a concussion.

"We had to change things up," Rowan said. "We did that Saturday at the tournament, too, but it definitely flowed better."

Freshmen Rylie Martin and Abby Harris keyed Rogers. Martin led the way with 12 kills, while Harris had a team-high 12 assists and three aces. Senior Anna Randals had a match-high 15 digs, while teammate Alexa Albarran added 12.
