SPRINGDALE — Springdale Har-Ber volleyball coach Shyrah Schisler resigned her position Friday effective at the end of the semester to pursue other opportunities.

Schisler guided the Lady Wildcats to three consecutive Class 7A state runner-up finishes (2015-17) and two conference titles in five seasons at Har-Ber. The Lady Wildcats finished 23-7 this season and won the 6A-West Conference title, falling in the state semifinals to eventual state champion Conway.

Schisler said she would like to explore coaching in college at some point, but said she is taking a step away from coaching for now.

"I love my Har-Ber family," Schisler said. "This is a good opportunity to do some things I've been wanting to do. Every year I evaluate my personal goals and professional ones. It wasn't a spur of the moment decision. I'm trying to pray about it and figure my next step in life and weighing some options."

Schisler said the choice to leave at the end of the semester gives the new coach a chance to work with her team during the spring.

"It's not fair to the girls," Schisler said. "Whoever the coach is will be able to do what they need to do for their program."

Wayne Stehlik, Springdale athletic director, praised the work Schisler did in her time at Har-Ber.

“Shyrah has built a championship caliber volleyball program at Har-Ber,” Stehlik said. “She has done a tremendous job. We’ve watched her have a major impact in maturing her student-athletes on and off the court.

“Har-Ber is one of the top volleyball programs in the state and we will start the process of hiring a new coach right away,” Stehlik said.

She coached at Shiloh Christian for four seasons before coming to Har-Ber. Schisler's Lady Saints teams advanced as far as the state semifinals.
