BENTONVILLE -- A Rogers man is being held on $200,000 bond in the Benton County Jail in connection with an armed robbery of a Dollar General store.

Tracy Duane Wright, 47, was arrested Wednesday in connection with aggravated robbery and theft of property. Prosecutors have not filed formal charges against Wright.

A man wearing a blonde wig and oversized black coat walked into the Dollar General Store at 1201 S. Eighth St. in Rogers Sunday morning and handed a note to the clerk, according to court documents. He also showed a gun to the clerk, the probable cause affidavit states.

The clerk read the note, crumpled it and threw it back at the man, who then ran from the store, according to the affidavit. The man did not get any money from the store, according to court documents.

Police watched video of the incident recorded by cameras inside the store.

A toy gun was found in the street on the southwest side of Heritage High School. Police viewed video footage from the area where the gun was found and saw a man running.

Police went to the Guest Inn at 1601 S. Eighth St. to review surveillance footage showed a photograph of the suspect from the Dollar General video, the affidavit states. The motel owner identified Wright as the person in the photograph and said Wright had stayed at the motel, but was asked to leave, according to the affidavit.

Police searched Wright's old room and found the broken orange tip from a toy gun in the trash can, according to court documents. The tip was missing off the toy gun found near the school, according to the affidavit.

Wright was arrested and denied he was involved in the store robbery.

He also was arrested in connection with the theft of a 2001 Dodge Dakota, according to the affidavit. Wright and his girlfriend took the car for a test drive and failed to return it, the affidavit says.

His arraignment is scheduled for 8 a.m. Dec. 10 in Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren's courtroom.
