GIVING BACK

ROGERS BREAKFAST KIWANIS CLUB

The Rogers Breakfast Kiwanis Club recently held a baggo tournament/ tailgate party fundraising event at the Downtown Rogers Farmers Market. Twenty-two teams competed for $450 in cash prizes while families enjoyed live music, games for the kids, live streaming Razorback football, hot dogs and silent auction bidding.

Proceeds from the event help support the club’s latest School Bus Stop Shelter for Kids project and the six other programs supporting children the club co-sponsors each year.

DINE AT BOCCA EVERY MONDAY

Bocca Italian eatery and pizzeria is raising money for local charities with its new Bocca Gives Back program. Every Monday, Bocca donates 10 percent of its sales from its Fayetteville and Rogers locations to a nonprofit organization. Bocca chooses a charity to feature each month and all the money raised from each Monday in that month go to that charity.

CARE Community Center of Rogers is the featured charity for November.

CARE Community Center offers numerous services to area residents. The Root Cellar serves those in need of food assistance and cooking skills. The organization’s employability services provide workshops in resume writing, how to have a successful interview, organization and time management, and ethics in the workplace. CARE also offers computer skills training with workshops in basic and intermediate computer operation as well as software specific instruction. These workshops are designed to assist people in developing the skills necessary to be competitive in today’s job market.

CARE’s Neighbor Network offers a holistic approach to providing residents with resources and education to aid them in their transition from living in crisis to living in wholeness and dignity. Services include workshops in financial literacy and life skills which are coupled with case management and support services. Additionally, life skills training equips people with the resources and education necessary to ensure better family functioning. Financial literacy workshops provide skills to help people be self-sufficient, budget and live within their means. CARE also provides a tax center with free tax preparation each year.

Help support CARE Community Center and the residents it serves by eating for a cause on Mondays at Bocca. The restaurant is located at 2011 S. Promenade Blvd. in Rogers and at 2036 N. College Ave. in Fayetteville.
