Terlouw wins reelection in Bentonville Ward 4 seat

BENTONVILLE -- Jon Terlouw will remain in the Ward 4, Position 2 seat on the City Council after defeating challenger Brian Lyew.

Ward 4 is in the city's southeast, everything from Southwest I Street and south of East Central Avenue. City Council members serve two-year terms and are paid $711 a month.

The complete but unofficial vote totals were:

• Terlouw: 6,598 (62%)

• Lyew: 4,048 (38%)

Terlouw, 55, works in central operations at Walmart and has lived in Bentonville 25 years. The City Council appointed him to fill a vacant seat in February.

He has said he wants to continue to help the city progress in the best possible way and that city staffing and infrastructure will be priorities in the next few years.

The city adopted new ward boundaries in 2017 that will take effect Jan. 1. Candidates live in the ward from which they sought election based on the new boundaries.
