BENTONVILLE -- Republican Debra Hobbs won re-election Tuesday to her Justice of the Peace District 3 seat on the Benton County Quorum Court.

Hobbs defeated Libertarian Trina Wilson.

The complete but unofficial vote totals were:

• Hobbs: 3,035 (68%)

• Wilson: 1,443 (32%)

Hobbs, 63, is a former state representative and Benton County justice of the peace. She owns of Hart Tackle Co.

Wilson, 42, a political newcomer, was seeking her first term. She is the mobile pantry coordinator for the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank.

J.D. Hayes, the justice of the peace for District 3, was appointed to the position and could not run for the seat.

District 3 is in southwestern Rogers. Hobbs is the owner of Hart Tackle Co. Wilson is the mobile pantry coordinator for the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank

"God has given me a heart for service and policy," Hobbs previously said. "I do not like the politics involved, but I love working on policy and constituent service."

Hobbs questions the use of a sales tax increase to pay for the county's proposed $30 million courts building. The funding proposal for the building is planned to go to a vote in a special election in March.

"I'm opposed to any increase in sales tax," she said. "As a conservative representative and as a citizen who pays taxes, I'd not be in favor of a tax increase."

Justices of the peace serve two-year terms and are paid $230 for each Quorum Court and Committee of the Whole meeting and $144 for meetings of other committees of which they are a member.
