The signature colors of Phi Beta Sigma -- royal blue and white -- were on display at the annual Orchid Ball and Awards Banquet on Oct. 26. Many men accessorized with a blue tie, vest or pocket square and some women wore blue gowns. Guest tables covered in floor-length white cloths were centered with arrangements of white orchids and candles. The event was hosted by the fraternity's Mu Beta Sigma Chapter at Embassy Suites.

The evening included dinner and a program with Denise Middleton and Warren Booker Jr. servings as emcees. Awards were presented to Dr. Emma K. Rhodes and Roma Isom in the category of Bigger and Better Business; Fitz Hill and George Herts in Education; and Judge Olly Neal for Social Action. Speakers included Michael Murry, southwestern regional director of the fraternity, and Allen Pennington, chapter president.

Entertainment was by Tonya Leeks and Company.

Phi Beta Sigma is a collegiate and professional fraternity founded in 1914.
