County bus rides free on Tuesday

by Arkansas Democrat-Gazette | November 1, 2018 at 2:58 a.m.

Rock Region Metro will offer free rides on its regular and express bus routes on Election Day, an effort the Pulaski County transit agency said began in 2016 to "help remove potential transportation barriers to area voters."

The agency board adopted a policy of providing fare-free rides for countywide elections after testing it in the November 2016 general election. Tuesday's will be the third time Rock Region has offered the service, the agency said in a news release.

"Several transit agencies across the country participate in Get Out and Vote efforts," said Charles Frazier, executive director for Rock Region. "The Metro board and staff are glad to play a part in overcoming potential obstacles to voter participation here in central Arkansas."
