SPRINGDALE -- Raymond Vaughns, 16, drowned Sunday at the Prairie Creek swimming area, according to Sgt. Shannon Jenkins, the spokeswoman for the Benton County Sheriff's Office.
Vaughns was a sophomore at Bentonville High School. He joined the Bentonville School District in January, according to Leslee Wright, the district's director of communication.
The school has counselors on hand for any students or staff members who need to talk to someone about the boy's death, Wright said.
