A teenager was killed in a game of Russian roulette in a Saline County home Friday, authorities said.

Officers in Haskell responded around 4:35 p.m. that day to a residence on Meadow Creek Drive, according to the police chief Mike Hardester.

There, a 15-year-old boy was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after a game of Russian roulette, Hardester said. The teen’s name was not released.

Hardester said two other teenagers present at the time tried to stop the 15-year-old but backed off when he kept pulling the trigger. His parents were not home at the time, the police chief added.

According to authorities, the Saline County coroner pronounced the teen dead at the scene within about two hours.

The police chief said an investigation was ongoing as of Monday morning. A case file was set to be sent to the Saline County prosecutor’s office.

Haskell, a city of around 2,640 residents, is about 30 miles southwest of Little Rock.
