Ozark Beer Company in Rogers launched its first lager last month and hopes to continue the process, company officials said.

Marty Shutter, marketing director, said Ozark Landbier Lager is a product the company hopes to work into it’s regular line up.

“We’ve been scheduling our production so we can fit a lager in,” Shutter said.

When comparing production of an ale and a lager, Shutter said ale production can take anywhere from 10-12 days, producing about three batches per month. Producing one batch of lager can take anywhere from two to three months. Since lagers take more time to produce, ales tend to be a favored product by producers since a shorter production time leads to more production for potential profit.

This lager, though, is a “beer that will appeal to people who may not be familiar with beer,” Shutter said.

“It pairs with almost any piece of food because most of its flavor comes from light character in yeast and the toast of grain,” Shutter said. “It’s clean and crisp.”

The lager has an alcohol content of 4.7 percent. Ozark Beer Company started serving it in mid-December.

Ozark Beer Company is located at 109 N. Arkansas St. in Rogers.
