Irvin Camacho

Where I live: North Springdale right across the street from Core Brewing and Distillery.

Occupation: community activist and organizer. For my job, I'm a Default Support Specialist for Arvest Mortgage in Lowell.

My favorite space: the counter area that divides the kitchen and living room.

Why: My wife and I are both community organizers. Anytime we do a video to engage the community, we make this space our recording studio. We set up a camera and sometimes a banner behind us and craft videos to help explain a new law or just give more information about events.

Sometimes we use my wife's phone for the camera, for live videos on Facebook, and other times we use my Cannon Rebel 4I, when we want better quality. The lighting in this space is good for recording, since it opposes the kitchen and that light is smack dab on us. If we need extra light, we set up a tall one with a floor base. When we're not making videos, we put our laptops down, organize together and really use that spot to the best of our ability.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: make it a little more professional. I would add a desk and seats that have a more appropriate height for filming. We're using stools, and sometimes it seems a little too close because of the seating. For the time being, the area is a good place to come together and do what we need to do. It helps that the refrigerator is nearby.
