Teacher bequeaths scholarship funds

Arkansas Tech University in Russellville has established a scholarship made possible by the estate of a former history professor.

The Michael Arthur Link and May Reid Kewen History Scholarship is in memory of the late associate professor and his mother, endowed by a gift of $190,900.68 from Link's estate.

Link, who joined the Arkansas Tech faculty in 1965, was an associate professor of history at the time of his death on April 25, 2016. He was 79.

Link's 51 years of service put him in company with Richard Cohoon (1960-2012) and David Krueger (1960-2010) as the only people to teach at the university for at least 50 years.

Link earned a bachelor of science degree in 1962 and a master of science degree in 1963 from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. He received doctor of philosophy degrees from Mississippi State University in 1966 and the Protestant Faculty of Paris in France in 1976.
