UALR opens its River Market District space

University of Arkansas officials got a sneak peek at the new UA Little Rock Downtown Center at a reception in the center on Nov. 28.

Opening to the public Jan. 16, the bright airy space is located on the first floor of the Central Arkansas Library System's Parking Garage in the River Market District and offers another way for the public to connect with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The university plans to use the space for alumni events, lectures and fundraisers and as a place for potential students to learn more about the university.

Another draw for the center will be the display of a recently restored mural titled Struggle of the South, originally painted for Commonwealth College in Mena in 1935 by Joe Jones.

Among those attending the preview of the center were members of the UA System Board of Trustees, Board of Visitors, Donaghey Board and the Campaign Steering Committee.
