Dinosaurs are delightful in Christmas decorations

HOT SPRINGS -- From two tall brontosauruses to a Tyrannosaurus rex, most all of the dinosaurs on the wooded property of the Mid-America Museum are decked in festive holiday lights. Hot Springs Mayor Pat McCabe flipped the switch lighting the first ever Dino-Lites! on Nov. 23.

Families gathered outside on the museum deck and enjoyed cookies and hot cocoa while they waited for the lighting display to open. The dinosaurs are part of the Oaklawn Foundation DinoTrek -- an outdoor exhibit featuring 11 dinosaur vignettes -- which opened in May.

The dinosaurs were adorned with LED lights and other festive decorations by local businesses and organizations and the public will vote for their favorite, with the winner announced at the museum's Noon-Year Eve event on Dec. 29. The dinosaur display with the most votes will win $500.
