A Great Catch

Juicy Tails serves up seafood and fun

When family and friends are ready to get casual and have some messy food fun this holiday season, Juicy Tails Seafood restaurant is the place to go. You'll eat with your hands. You'll wear a bib. And John Crosthwait, the general manager of Juicy Tails in Rogers, says there's no point in wearing nice clothes either.

"You definitely need a bib. It's about to get messy," he advises. "We bring your backyard seafood boil that you would do at home, but in a restaurant setting. We do all the work for you. There's paper on the tables and we'll bring you a bib."

John explains the unique concept of the restaurant.

"You order whatever seafood you want, you pick what flavor you want and how spicy you like it. It's all boiled together. You can throw in corn and potatoes or sausage," John says. "We bring it to your table, throw it on the table for you, and you just kind of break it open and eat it like that. When it's all said and done, we just wad up the paper that's on the table. Easy clean up!"

Customers can choose from a range of fresh seafood options, ordered by the pound. These include king crab, snow crab, lobster, shrimp, clams, crawfish and mussels, brought in from all over the country.

"We source from a variety of vendors-- shrimp and oysters from the Gulf, lobsters from Maine," John points out. "When crawfish are in season, our vendor partners drive from Texas and Louisiana several times a week."

Next, customers select the flavor--Cajun, garlic, lemon pepper or the popular Woo Pig Sooie, which combines all three. John describes it as "tangy, garlicky, delicious."

For the last step, the customer chooses the desired level of heat: mild, medium, hot or insane. Extras can be ordered to add to the mix, too: corn on the cob, potatoes and sausage. Other menu items are Cajun baskets, raw oysters, catfish, wings, and soup and salad. A kid's menu has seafood and non-seafood options. There are plenty of happy hour specials from the full bar--from mixed drinks and mimosas to beer and wine--and TVs for watching sports.

The restaurant has locations in Fayetteville and Rogers. The Rogers location, near the Walmart AMP, opened in January of this year.

"We've had a great reaction, and we love the community," John says. "Our owners come in and create new ideas. We have a crew of really great cooks."
