Happens every year

November 23, 2016 at 3:03 a.m.

Last week a man from Louisiana, Jeffery Millstead, was killed in a hunting accident in Benton County. It seems like somebody is seriously hurt or killed every year during modern-gun hunting season. It's not always an accidental shooting. Sometimes it's a ATV wreck or a fall from a deer stand.

This is supposed to be a happy time of the year, with cool weather and hunting buddies and family outings and stories about football games past. In a flash, it can turn into a nightmare, and, in the years to come, remembrances and anniversaries of the nightmare.

Once again, the old warning needs repeating: Please be careful out there. Safety on, seatbelt on, know your surroundings. And let's live to see another beautiful fall in Arkansas.
