SPRINGDALE -- David Portilla kept his streak alive Tuesday. So did Springdale High.

The junior midfielder scored a goal in a third consecutive 7A-West game to help lift Springdale to a 2-1 home win over Fayetteville as the Red'Dogs remained unbeaten in conference action.

Springdale (9-2, 3-0) is the only remaining unbeaten team in conference play after the victory in a match it led 2-0 at halftime after goals by sophomore Jesus Barroso and Portilla, who also scored key goals in wins over Rogers Heritage and Springdale Har-Ber.

"We don't have him really slated as somebody, just because of the position he plays, that's going to give us a lot of goals," Springdale coach DJ Beeler said. "But the goals that he's scoring, they're on these corner kicks and it's just like the ball falls to the ground and he's in the right place at the right time. So he's an opportunistic goal scorer -- and that's just as good as any other goal scorer."

Springdale was in control most of the game but Fayetteville made it interesting late after senior Harry Morante scored with 7:47 left. Springdale had issues maintaining possession down the stretch, but Fayetteville (5-3-1, 2-2) wasn't able to take advantage and tie the game with the late surge.

"The game is designed for 80 minutes," Fayetteville coach Steve Oliver said. "Doesn't matter who you're playing. You can play the deaf, dumb and blind school but you don't play for 80 minutes, there's a good chance you may lose. ... What frustrates me more than anything, when we play the so-called big teams, we don't come out full gas."

SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 2, BENTONVILLE 0

Raul Umana's goal broke a scoreless tie with 25 minutes, 58 minutes remaining as Har-Ber went on to hand Bentonville its first loss of the season and spoil the Tigers' home opener.

Har-Ber (2-4, 2-2) picked up a own goal when a shot by Umana went off a Bentonville defender and went into the goal with 2:06 remaining. Bentonville (5-1-1, 2-1) had its best chance to score shortly after Umana's goal, but the Tigers couldn't convert in heavy traffic in front of the goal.

ROGERS HERITAGE 2, FORT SMITH NORTHSIDE 1

The War Eagles rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to force penalties kicks and picked up the 7A-West Conference win.

Heritage improved to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the 7A-West. The War Eagles play host to Fort Smith Southside on Thursday.
